Thought I would take a look back with my bloggles on
blog + goggles = bloggles
by taking a look-see at some March posts the last few years.
Today I'll do one from 3 years ago, tomorrow two years ago, and the next day
can you guess?
Yeah. You got it. A year ago.
So here's one from March 2008, when we were still in the process of constructing our dossier:
I got a letter from Borya yesterday, and this is part of what he wrote:
We had a Mother's Day event. I played on stage. All the teachers liked it. Aleksey made photos from the concert.

I congratulate you, dear mother on this Mother's day. And I wish you love, health and happiness.

I know it's been three years, but the same question still smacks me full across the face. Of course, I do have the benefit of a little cultural awareness. I know now, for instance, that Kazakhstan's "Mother's Day" is really something they call Women's Day, where ALL women are celebrated, not just mothers.
Even so, cultural awareness or not, I still find it
inappropriate?
insensitive?
*****ed up?
Don't know if I'll ever truly understand.....

this is one of the first posts I ever read on your blog.
I rememeber it vividly. You were so pissed. Rightly so. I think that's when I knew I would like you.
And, thank God he has you now.
